MEMBER ALERT

As you know, in October 2021, the City walked away from the bargaining table and unilaterally implemented new terms and conditions of employment relevant to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

UFLAC challenged that action by filing an unfair practice charge with the Employee Relations Board (ERB). The matter was heard by a hearing officer in February 2022. The hearing officer recently issued a recommendation and found that the City did not violate the relevant law. The hearing officer only makes a recommendation to the ERB, and the recommendation is not final and binding until the ERB issues a decision.

UFLAC completely disagrees with the findings and plans to challenge with the ERB. The ERB will hear the challenges in October 2022.

UFLAC is disappointed by the hearing officer’s recommendation, and we will continue to fight to protect the rights of our members.

In Solidarity,
