Mandatory Vaccine Update

UFLAC Members,

This morning the UFLAC Negotiating Team attended the Executive Employee Relations Committee (EERC) meeting which consists of Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Council President Nury Martinez, Council President Pro Tem Mitch O’Farrell, Councilmember Paul Koretz, and Councilmember Paul Krekorian.

UFLAC President Freddy Escobar spoke during the Closed Session discussions regarding the impact of the City’s vaccine mandate and UFLAC’s desire to reach common ground. Among other things, President Escobar spoke about the devastating impact to public safety that would be caused by the removal of any LAFD Firefighters or Paramedics in a department that is already understaffed. We continue to fight on behalf of our members.

Reminder – the last day for UFLAC members to report their vaccination status is October 19, 2021. We strongly encourage all our members to report their status as soon as possible, but certainly by the close of business on 10/19/21, in order to avoid charges related to insubordination.

Reminder – If you feel that you qualify for a medical or religious exemption from the City of Los Angeles, UFLAC strongly recommends that you file for this exemption as soon as possible.

In Solidarity,

UFLAC Negotiating Team
