Bulletin 50 – 21
A video has been circulating within the LAFD that shows UFLAC President Freddy Escobar and former UFLAC President (and current IAFF General Secretary-Treasurer) Frank Lima leaving a meeting with Mayor Eric Garcetti. This video has led to a great deal of discussion in the fire house.
Yes – President Escobar had a meeting with Mayor Garcetti last week. This was publicly announced at our last General Membership Meeting two days before the meeting took place. And yes, President Escobar and the UFLAC Executive Board continue to meet with City Councilmembers and other city officials in an effort to prevent suspensions and terminations as a result of the vaccine mandate.
Our legal efforts continue. Our messaging to the public regarding the devastating impact of this mandate continues. And our lobbying of city officials, including the Mayor, continues.
We were elected to fight for our membership and that’s what we have been doing since the start of this mandate. Those who criticize without knowing and only seek to divide should find something productive to do. Yelling the loudest and throwing rocks at your brothers and sisters is not an actual plan. Most importantly, it is only hurting our collective efforts to try to protect firefighter jobs.
UFLAC will continue the fight on behalf of all of our members.
