Bulletin 11 – 20

COVID-19 Update

As you know, the COVID-19 crisis has spread to a global pandemic and, out of an abundance of caution, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has declared a Local Public Health Emergency and Mayor Eric Garcetti has proclaimed a Local State of Emergency for the City of Los Angeles. Department of Health Services has just issued Reference 834.1 on how to treat and refer for all ill patients during the COVID-19 Outbreak

Your health and safety are a top priority for UFLAC, which is why we are in constant communication with the Department as well as the Chief Officers Association, as a unified approach to prepare and protect our members, while keeping everyone apprised of available information. Please refer to Departmental Bulletin 20-04 for Post Exposure Procedures and the March 12th Message from the Fire Chief for a comprehensive list of COVID-19 mitigation measures taken by the LAFD.  Also see LAFD’s Official Notice – Coronavirus COVID-19 Update No. 4

Earlier this week, UFLAC Executive Board Members attended the IAFF Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. where a briefing was provided on Coronavirus Protection for First Responders. During this informational session, the IAFF discussed their efforts to ensure we address the needs of our members on the frontlines responding to patients who may be infected or who are quarantined or isolated due to possible exposure.
