DROP Amendments Approved by City Council
Dear Local 112 Members:
UFLAC has worked extensively with public safety bargaining units, including the Los Angeles Police Protective League, Airport Police Officers, Port Police Officers, LAFD Chief Officers Association, and other public safety unions to make revisions to the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP).
After public hearings in December and January in accordance with the City Charter, the City Council approved changes to the DROP ordinance by a unanimous vote on Tuesday, January 15th. The ordinance now awaits a signature by the Mayor followed by publication and implementation before its effective date.
The effective date of the ordinance implementing the changes will be February 1, 2019. Members entering the DROP after January 31, 2019 will be subject to the new requirements.
Additional details can be found in the official City Council motion and draft ordinance.
If you have any questions regarding the DROP, please feel free to contact members of the UFLAC Executive Board.
In Solidarity,
Executive Board
