UFLAC Holiday Message
Dear LAFD Members and Families:
The Peer Support Team of United Firefighters of Los Angeles City (UFLAC) Local 112 and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) wishes you and your families a very Happy Holiday Season. While this time of year can be a period of great joy and fun filled with family and friends, it can also be a time of great pain and loneliness for many of our LAFD members. For those who have experienced a recent loss or may be going through a separation or divorce, the Holidays can be a very challenging time.
Our mission is always to be there for our brothers and sisters in the fire service – and especially during your greatest time of need. If you find yourself struggling, please reach out to one of our trained Peer Support Team Members. Please click HERE for the Peer Support Team Roster, which includes your colleagues in the LAFD who will maintain your confidentiality and help you through your difficulties.
As the Director of the UFLAC Behavioral Health Program, you can also reach out to me at any time, day or night. My cell is listed below. UFLAC/LAFD also has a robust Employee Assistance Program, headed up by Director Nancy Mraz. She can be reached at UFLAC by dialing extension 225 or directly on her cell, 213-598-8794. Nancy specializes in assisting our members and families with addiction issues. Finally, you can also reach out to the LAFD Psychologists, Doctor Krystle Madrid , cell 213-718-0768 and/ or Doctor Audrey Martinez, cell 213-435-3996 with the LAFD’s Behavioral Health Program.
As you know, Firefighters have incredibly dangerous, stressful, and time-consuming jobs that can lead to other problems in their personal lives, including issues with their marriages, substance abuse, Post Traumatic Stress, and so much more. Firefighters are more likely to experience job-related problems that lead to negative impacts, but it is critical for you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. The UFLAC Behavioral Health Program is here for our members and ready to assist with free services that are 100% confidential and supported by both specialized medical professionals and highly-trained Peer Support Team Members (many of whom have been through the same issues that you may be experiencing right now).
The Behavioral Health Team, the UFLAC Peer Support Program, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) all wish you and your families a very happy, healthy Holiday Season and remind you that we are always here for you and your families.
Best wishes and Happy Holidays to all of our LAFD members and families. Thank you for everything that you do to serve the people of Los Angeles and beyond.
Sincerely,
Dr. Steve F. Froehlich, Ph.D., MFT 7666
